Malignant Invokers are Seasonal items that are tied to the Season of the Malignant. They are drops that can be obtained from Malignant Monsters, or crafted at Cormond’s Workbench. Here is everything you need to know about Malignant Invokers in Diablo 4.
How to use a Malignant Invoker in Diablo 4
- Head over to any Malignant Tunnel on the map with an Invoker in hand
- Defeat all enemies and Elites within the tunnel
- Navigate to the optional quest within the tunnel called “Invoke the Malignant”
- Find the Outgrowth and use an Invoker that matches the color of the Outgrowth
- Defeat the monster that comes out of it and obtain the Caged Malignant Heart.
Malignant Tunnels have the same icon as a Dungeon but with an extra green leaf located on the top of the gate. Once there, you will have to perform one task that includes slaying all enemies, freeing slaves, destroying Malignant Pustules, and many more. After doing that, you will get an optional quest that asks you to head over to the final room within the tunnel to Invoke an Outgrowth.
When you get there, you will see two color outgrowths. Use an Invoker that matches the color of the outgrowth and a Malignant Monster will be summoned. Slaying this monster will instantly drop a Caged Malignant Heart.
How to get Diablo 4 Malignant Invokers
There are four types of Malignant Invokers that can be obtained, Vicious, Brutal, Devious, and Wrathful. One special Invoker called Invoker of Varshan can also be crafted and used to confront the seasonal boss, Echo of Varshan.

Malignant Invokers can be obtained in two ways:
- Dropped by Malignant Monsters
- Crafted at Cormond’s Workbench
When navigating Sanctuary and exploring Malignant Tunnels, you will come across Malignant Monsters who are either Brutal, Vicious, or Devious. Defeating them has a chance to drop an Invoker of the same type.
Alternatively, you can craft any of the three basic Invokers at Cormond’s Workbench by using Malignant Ichors which is a material that can be obtained from salvaging Caged Malignant Hearts.
How to get Wrathful Malignant Invokers
A Wrathful Malignant Invoker has an extremely low chance of dropping from Malignant Monsters. It also has a chance to drop from the Uncertain Invoker Cache that can be crafted at Cormond’s Workbench. This Cache has a chance to drop any of the three basic Invokers with a small chance to drop a Wrathful Invoker.
If you plan to farm Wrathful Invokers, then the best way to do so is through crafting the Uncertain Invoker Cache.
