Silent Chests are special boxes that show up all over Sanctuary. They drop all kinds of gear rarities and require a special key called “Whispering Key” to unlock. You can identify a Silent Chest by the shiny yellow locks that are located on the front side of the chest.
How to open Silent Chests
To unlock a Silent Chest you have to follow these steps:
- Make sure you have enough at least 20 Murmuring Obols by completing events all over Sanctuary.
- Head over to any major city and find the Purveyor of Curiosities vendor. You can identify this merchant by finding the bag and coins icon on the mini-map.
- Once you get there, interact with the vendor to open the menu, scroll all the way down to find the Whispering Keys, and buy as many as you can afford.
- Finally, it’s only a matter of locating the Silent Chests as they are randomly peppered in Sanctuary, and they reset whenever you join a new instance of the map.
Are Silent Chests worth it?
Even though this was not the case before, Silent Chests are pretty worth it now. With the recent 1.1 patch, Silent Chests were buffed and players have taken to the internet to test this buff. Now, you can actually get some legendary and rare items from a single Whispering Key, with a low chance obviously.
So stock up on those Keys, and if you stumble upon one of those chests while casually traversing Sanctuary, then there is make sure to unlock it so you don’t miss out on those juicy rewards.
