Guild Wars 2 WvW Legendary Armor

Are you playing a lot of World vs. World but you are still using Ascended gear to swap between your build templates? If yes, then you should probably take a look at getting a set of WvW Legendary armor.

In this guide, we will go over what is this armor, and how you can get your own within a maximum of 22 weeks.

What is WvW Legendary Armor in Guild Wars 2

What is WvW Legendary Armor

WvW Legendary Armor in Guild Wars 2 (GW2) is the ultimate luxury that any theory-crafting lover would enjoy having. This is due to all the benefits that it provides.

However, getting this armor is time-consuming and can prove to be difficult, it is still easier than the Raids and PvP counterparts though.

Benefits

The benefit of WvW Legendary Armor, just like any piece of legendary gear, is the ability to change the stats at will without having to pay a single copper. As long as you are out of combat, you can swap your gear’s stats to any of the available Attribute combinations.

Moreover, once it’s unlocked for the first time it will be added to the Legendary Armory. This allows all your characters that share the same weight as the armor to create a copy of it.

Drawbacks

One drawback of Legendary WvW Armor is that if you are looking to get something similar to Raid Legendary armor that transforms when you get in and out of combat, then you should think again.

Just like the PvP Legendary Armor, the one you get from WvW has a very basic design. If you want something remotely good, then you have to get the Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor which will set you back 20 weeks.

How to get GW2 WvW Legendary Armor

To get one piece of this armor, you need to get the following materials and then place them in the Mystic Forge:

  • A piece of Triumphant Hero’s armor or Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor.
  • Gift of War Dedication
  • Gift of War Prowess
  • Gift of War Prosperity

If you want to have a checklist of all the items that you need in one organized place, I recommend checking out GW2Efficiency.

Sublime Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Armor Effect

There are two types of WvW Legendary Armor that you can get in Guild Wars 2, and they both function exactly the same but they look different. The first one you can obtain is by using the Ascended Triumphant Hero’s armor and the second is by using the more expensive Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor. Both items can be used as precursors to craft the WvW Legendary Gear, but the Mistforged type costs more WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets and Memories of Battle.

The cost difference between both can be seen in the tables below:

WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets Cost
Triumphant Hero’s Armor Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Armor
Exotic armor (tier 2) 0 (Reward Track) 4 x 175 + 350 + 260 = 1,310 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets
Ascended armor (precursor) 4 x 175 + 350 + 260 = 1,310 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets 4 x 350 + 700 + 520 = 2,620 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets
Legendary War Insights (x6) 1095 x 6 = 6,570 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets 1095 x 6 = 6,570 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets
Total ticket cost 7,880 10,500

You can get WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets 410 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets per week. 365 by obtaining the Diamond reward chest, and another 45 by completing the weekly World vs. World achievements. More tickets can be obtained by defending Stonemist, but we won’t consider those.

Memories of Battle Cost
Triumphant Hero’s Armor Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Armor
Exotic armor (tier 2) 0 (Reward Track) 250 x 6 = 1,500 Memories of Battle
Ascended armor (precursor) 250 x 6 = 1,500 Memories of Battle 500 x 6 = 3,000 Memories of Battle
Legendary War Insights (x6) 250 x 6 = 1,500 Memories of Battle 250 x 6 = 1,500 Memories of Battle
Total memories of battle cost 3,000 6,000

You can get Memory of Battle 105 Memories of battle from the Diamond chest per week, and some reward tracks provide you with 15 Memories of Battle per track.

Based on these calculations, you will need at least 22 weeks to get the WvW Legendary Armor.

Mistforged Type Fact

Apart from the fact that Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Armor is more expensive, you have to be at least WvW Rank 500 and already unlocked the Ascended Triumphant Armor before you can purchase the Mistforged variant.

In the remainder of the guide, we will go over how you can get the WvW Legendary Armor using the Triumphant Hero’s Armor as an example, and all the numbers account for one piece of armor.

Step 1: Getting the Triumphant Hero’s armor

Triumphant Hero Armor Reward Track

To get a Triumphant Hero’s Armor Exotic, you have to complete the Triumphant Armor Reward Track for every piece of armor, so basically six times for a full set.

After unlocking the exotic versions, you can proceed to any Skirmish Supervisor and access the second tab to purchase the Triumphant Hero’s Armor Ascended using the required amount of WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets, Memories of Battle, Grandmaster Marks, and two gold.

Warning! Do not try to change the stats of a precursor in the Mystic Forge because it can’t be used to craft the WvW Legendary Armor piece anymore if you do. Wait until you craft the legendary item then change it to whatever you want.
