Warbringer is a legendary back item that can be obtained in Guild Wars 2 by playing the World vs. World (WvW) game mode. This item allows you to change its stats on the fly without worrying about paying any gold, and you can also change its skin without spending any Transmutation Charges.
Moreover, by unlocking this WvW Legendary back piece, you will gain access to a Glider skin as well. However, it is no easy task to obtain this back piece for obvious reasons and you will have to invest some time and gold before you can actually get one for your entire account.
To make things easier, this guide puts everything you need to know about getting the Warbringer in a compiled and structured way. The most important thing to know is that getting this item is time-gated, which means that you can only get it after a certain period of time for reasons I will be explaining below.
How to get Warbringer
The only way you can get Warbringer is by playing WvW, getting all the necessary materials, and crafting it in the Mystic Forge.
Before I proceed with listing the materials and gifts that you need, try playing WvW and getting to know the ropes of this game mode until you hit WvW rank 350. This is because Warcry, which is an item needed to craft Warbringer, can only be obtained if you hit this rank.
This is all the material needed to craft the WvW Legendary Back item:
- Gift of Warfare
- Gift of Fortune
- Gift of Conquering
Forging the Precursor: Warcry
To craft Warcry, which is the Ascended precursor of Warbringer, you have to purchase four items from Legendary Commander War Razor which can be found in all borderlands.
|Recruit’s Wings of War||350 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets||
|Soldier’s Wings of War||525 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets||
|General’s Wings of War||700 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets||
|Commander’s Wings of War||875 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets||
The WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets is where things get “time-gatey”. They can be obtained from weekly Reward Track chests, and you will need a total of 2,450 tickets to craft the precursor. You can only get 410 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets per week. 365 tickets can be obtained by completing the Diamond reward chest, and another 45 by completing the weekly World vs. World achievements
World Rank can be easily increased. Just play WvW casually and you will hit rank 350 in no time.
A Commander’s Compendium is an item that can be purchased and consumed to unlock the Commander Tag. You can buy it for 300 gold, and 250 Badges of Honor from Legendary Commander War Razor.
This item is a one-time purchase and can be used across all your characters.
After getting all four Wings of War, place them in any Mystic Forge, and you will get Warcry. Make sure not to lose this item otherwise you will have to repeat this process all over again.
Getting the Gift of Warfare
The Gift of Warfare is one of the three gifts needed to craft this back piece. You need four Mystic Essences to craft the Gift of Warfare. Each essence can be obtained by placing its respective materials in the Mystic Forge and hitting the Forge button.
All the base essences can be purchased from Legendary Commander War Razor in any of the borderlands.
- Mystic Essence of Strategy
- 20 Vial of Powerful Blood
- 50 Vial of Potent Blood
- 250 Pile of Bloodstone Dust
- 1 Essence of Strategy – Costs 1,000 Badges of Honor.
- Mystic Essence of Animosity
- 20 Ancient Bone
- 50 Large Bone
- 250 Empyreal Fragment
- 1 Essence of Animosity – Costs 500 Proof of Heroics, or 500 Testimony of Desert Heroics.
- Mystic Essence of Carnage
- 20 Armored Scale
- 50 Large Scale
- 250 Dragonite Ore
- 1 Essence of Carnage – Costs 500 Memories of Battle.
- Mystic Essence of Annihilation
- 20 Vicious Claw
- 50 Large Claw
- 10 Glob of Dark Matter – Obtained from salvaging exotic gear
- 1 Essence of Annihilation – Costs 350 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets.
Once you have all four Mystic Essences, head over to the Mystic Forge, and place them all inside to craft a Gift of Warfare.
With the limit of 410 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets per week, you will need at least 7 weeks to get Warbringer since you need a total of 2,800 WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets.
Getting the Gift of Fortune
The Gift of Fortune is simply a gold dump for the Warbringer as most of the items needed, apart from the Commander’s Compendium, do not require gold. To craft the Gift of Fortune, you have to place the following items in the Mystic Forge.
- 250 Globs of Ectoplasm
- 77 Mystic Clovers
- Gift of Magic
- Gift of Might
Globs of Ectoplasm
Globs of Ectoplasm are earned naturally while playing the game I would say. Either salvage a rare or exotic piece of gear to get a random change of 0 or 3 Globs of Ectoplasm. Moreover, you can purchase them from the Trading Post for a reasonable price.
Mystic Clovers can be obtained in so many ways, however, there are more efficient ways than others. I would say the best ways to get Mystic Clovers is by gambling them from the Mystic Forge or buying them from Fractals of the Mists.
Nevertheless, you can check the dedicated guide to find out all the efficient ways.
Gift of Might
Combine the following material in the Mystic Forge:
- 250 Vicious Fangs
- 250 Armored Scales
- 250 Vicious Claws
- 250 Ancient Bones
Gift of Magic
Combine the following material in the Mystic Forge:
- 250 Vials of Powerful Blood
- 250 Powerful Venom Sacs
- 250 Elaborate Totems
- 250 Piles of Crystalline Dust
Getting the Gift of Conquering
The final gift would be the Gift of Conquering, and I would say that this is the easiest one to get among all three. Simply place all the following items in the Mystic Forge to get this gift.
- 1 Legendary Spike – Chance to drop from enemy players or NPCs in WvW.
- 4 Gifts of Battle
- 2 Vision Crystals
- 250 Memories of Battle
Gift of Battle
The Gift of Battle can be obtained by completing the Gift of Battle Item Reward Track. This is a repeatable track that will reward you with multiple items needed to craft Legendary equipment, and a Gift of Battle which is an item needed to craft WvW Legendary Armor and accessories.
To fast track this, make sure you complete your WvW dailies as they reward you with Potions of WvW Rewards that give you a significant amount of track experience.
The Vision Crystal can be crafted at any crafting station except Cooking and Scribe. You will need the following material and a crafting discipline of 500.
- 2 Augur’s Stones – Purchased from Miyani, the NPC next to the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch for 20 Spirit Shards
- 10 Dragonite Ingots
- 10 Empyreal Stars
- 10 Bloodstone Brick
Putting it All Together
Once you have the Gift of Fortune, Gift of Conquering, Gift of Warfare, and Warcry, simply head over to the Mystic Forge, place them all inside, and hit the Forge button.
