Heart of Thorns introduced a new area called Auric Basin that falls within the Maguuma Jungles. In this map, you are bound to get lost while trying to find all the Hero Points, and this is due to all the verticality that it has.
In this guide, we will cover all the Auric Basin Hero Point locations and instructions on how to get them. If you prefer, you can also watch the video that shows you which waypoint to take and how to get to every Hero Point on the map.
GW2 Auric Basin Hero Points
There are 11 Hero Points in Auric Basin. Most of them can be done solo, but they are pretty difficult as you will be stumbling across Champions in most of them. So, if you can get a friend or ask fellow players for help in the map chat, that would cut your time by half.
Before we begin, you will need to have a Glider and the following HoT Masteries:
- Itzel Mastery IV
- Exalted Mastery I
- Leyline Gliding
1. Young Mushroom
- Location: Tarnished Treetop
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Wanderer’s Waypoint [&BNYHAAA=]
- Instructions: From the waypoint, head south and take a leap of faith from the cliff ahead. You will have to use your Glider though because it’s a long way down. Once you are all the way to the bottom, you should find the hero point up ahead, and interact with it to summon the Champion Mushroom King.
2. Toxin Cured Hog
- Location: Westwatch Patch
- Difficulty: Medium
- Waypoint: Wanderer’s Waypoint [&BNYHAAA=]
- Instructions: Following the same path you took to get to the Young Mushroom Auric Basin Hero Point, but this time just keep going straight. To complete the Toxin Cured Hog Hero Point, your health will constantly be lost for a whole minute and you only have one healing skill with a 6 seconds cooldown. You have to use that healing skill every 5 damage ticks. You can also make use of the Adrenal Mushroom to reset your skills, but this can be done only once, so use it wisely.
3. Champion Tarnished Sage
- Location: Tarir The Forgotten City
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Forgotten City Waypoint [&BMYHAAA=]
- Instructions: The Champion Tarnished Sage hero point can only be accessed after the Octovine meta event. Just take the waypoint from Tarir and head down the small path that leads you to the caves. Fight the Champion Tarnished Sage to earn this hero point.
4. Suspicious Orichalcum Node
- Location: Arrowhead Vale
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Northwatch Waypoint [&BN0HAAA=]
- Instructions: Probably one of the hardest hero challenges in Auric Basin, you will confront the Champion Arrowhead that can literally one-shot you. To get there, simply head straight from the Northwatch waypoint.
5. Balthazar’s Statue
- Location: Balthazar’s Rest
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Westwatch Waypoint [&BAYIAAA=]
- Instructions: If you watch the video, you will see how lucky I was to have earned this Auric Basin hero point. Usually, you will have to fight a Champion of Balthazar before you can interact with the place of power. This will take a group to complete, but once you have defeated the Champion, interact with the place of power to earn the hero point.
6. Egg Clutch
- Location: Chak Hollow
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Chak Hollow Waypoint [&BEkIAAA=]
- Instructions: From the waypoint, continue straight and climb up the tree ledge to enter a small cave. Inside, interact with the Egg Clutch to summon a ruthless Champion Chak Lobber. Defeating the Chak will earn you that hero point.
7. Notice to Trespassers
- Location: Eastwatch Bluff
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Eastwatch Waypoint [&BGwIAAA=]
- Instructions: Take the waypoint and navigate straight till you find a path of mushrooms going up a tree. Jump over those mushrooms and you will find a signboard that you have to interact with to start the challenge. Be prepared though as you will be fighting three veterans and Champion Commander Razorwing.
8. Ancient Golem Part
- Location: Lastgear Standing
- Difficulty: Medium
- Waypoint: Westwatch Waypoint [&BAYIAAA=]
- Instructions: Probably the harder Auric Basin Hero Point to get to as you will need to. From the waypoint, navigate to The Falls and keep your eye on some Mushrooms to your left. Once you find the shrooms, take all three of them to reach the tree top. Continue straight from there but avoid the Champion that you will see on your way. Take the Leyline energy to travel to the other part of the tree and just follow the path till you get to the Ancient Golems.
9. Mordrem Flower
- Location: Eastwatch Bluff
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Eastwatch Waypoint [&BGwIAAA=]
- Instructions: Head all the way southeast of Eastwatch Bluff. You will find a small cave that you can enter and there will be some Mordrem Bombers and a Mordrem Flower. Defeat the Bombers then interact with the flower to summon Champion Mordrem Vinetooth.
10. Burnisher Quarry
- Location: Burnisher Quarry
- Difficulty: Hard
- Waypoint: Northwatch Waypoint [&BN0HAAA=]
- Instructions: From the waypoint, head north till you see a crossing that requires you to use the Leyline energy. Take that Leyline and then take your first right. Glide over to the broken platform and continue your way up till you reach a small cave. By the end of the cave, you will have a right and a left, take the left path, and continue your way up till you find some Updrafts. Take those Updrafts and then head straight till you reach the Place of Power.
11. Exalted Overlook
- Location: Tarir the Forgotten City
- Difficulty: Easy
- Waypoint: Forgotten City Waypoint [&BMYHAAA=]
- Instructions: The easiest hero point in Auric Basin. Simply head up the stairs from the waypoint and take the Exalted Portal to Upper Tarir. Once you are all the way up, jump and deploy your Glider while navigating left till you find the Place of Power as highlighted in the image above.
That’s all 11 Auric Basin Hero Points, next in line would be the Hero Points in Tangled Depths, and it is ten times harder than this one.
